Arts within mentoring uses performing arts workshops to assist young people’s personal and social development. Our target groups are vulnerable, at risk of social isolation, knife and gun crime and young people who have suffered trauma caused by COVID 19.

The program uses practical drama exercises to explore topics such as, leadership, anger management, self-confidence, equality, bullying, gang awareness, peer pressure and mental health awareness. Towards the end of the project the young people will be able to demonstrate their new skills by putting together their own
theatre production. The production will be performed in front of family and friends and all activities will follow government social distancing guidelines.

ABOUT ARTS WITHIN THE PROGRAMME

BENEFITS

The young people who participate in this programme will complete it with a range of transferable skills, increased confidence, raised aspirations and positive methods of dealing with issues. This will eventually lead to a reduction in anti-social behaviour and crime in the local community.
